Young Writers Competition Launched by Five-Year-Old Enfield Author
Esse Loewenthal invites kids to join his young authors competition this National Storytelling Week

Enfield: A five-year-old boy named Esse Loewenthal is making waves. He published a book two years ago and now wants to help other kids do the same.
Esse runs a publishing house called British Isles Publishing. He’s inviting children to enter his young authors competition during National Storytelling Week.
His competition is for kids up to eight years old. The deadline for submissions is March 5th. Esse even offers storytelling tips on his YouTube channel.
Esse grew up with stories at bedtime. His parents read to him, and he started making up his own stories at three-and-a-half. His dad recorded these stories and helped him publish them.
After not getting responses from big publishers, Esse created his own publishing house. His book, *Baby Fox*, sold well in stores like Waterstones, making him one of the youngest authors ever.
National Storytelling Week runs until Sunday, and Esse wants to inspire other young writers. He plans to hold story workshops in schools and libraries, where kids can create stories together.
Last year, a study showed a “crisis” in children’s literacy. Only 28.7% of kids aged eight to 18 enjoy writing in their free time. Esse wants to change that.
He encourages young storytellers: “If you like making stories, this competition is for you! Just create a story, illustrate it, and send it to my publishing house.”
