Young Driver Caught Without Seatbelt Near A1 in County Durham
A young driver was stopped by police for not wearing a seatbelt near the A1 in County Durham, receiving a penalty notice and advice.

Durham: On Monday, police were patrolling when they spotted a young driver. This driver was about to join the A1 without a seatbelt on.
The police stopped the vehicle right next to the A1. They gave the driver a fixed penalty notice and some serious advice. Now, they’re sharing rules about seatbelt use to help keep everyone safe.
Police want to discourage people from skipping seatbelts. A spokesperson mentioned that checks were happening, and they caught this young female driver without her seatbelt.
Durham Constabulary said:
- You can be fined up to £500 for not wearing a seatbelt.
- Wearing a seatbelt protects you and others on the road.
- Only one person can use each seatbelt. Don’t share it.
