Springfield: Law enforcement from the Miami Valley gathered on Monday to honor Deputy Summer Jenkins of the Clark County Sheriff’s Office. It was a touching moment as they remembered her dedication and service.

The funeral took place in Springfield, where many came to pay their respects. Jenkins, who was only 27, passed away on December 19. A dispatcher gave the End of Watch call, marking a somber moment for everyone involved.

“After four years of dedicated service, Deputy Summer Jenkins has answered her final call,” the dispatcher said. Her procession started in Clark County and ended in Indiana, where she had attended school.

Chief Deputy Michael Young shared that Jenkins had a smile that felt like a warm hug. He described her as polite and friendly, with a comforting energy that made others feel at ease. She was truly excited to be part of the sheriff’s office.

Jenkins graduated from the Sinclair Law Enforcement Academy and began her career at the Colerain Police Department. She spent four years with Cedarville Police before joining the Clark County Sheriff’s Office in September 2024.

“Rest easy, Deputy Jenkins. We will take it from here,” the dispatcher concluded. Chief Young mentioned that her loss would be deeply felt across multiple police departments and among first responders.
