Sheffield: Friends and fans are heartbroken after hearing about the death of Keeley Thornton, a TikTok star who was reportedly exploited for likes.

Keeley, known as ‘Sheffield Keeley’ online, was found unconscious in the city center on January 14. Emergency services rushed her to the hospital, but sadly, she was pronounced dead.

Her death is being treated as unexplained, and a woman has been arrested in connection with it. South Yorkshire Police are looking into the details.

Keeley gained popularity on TikTok for her singing, but a local homelessness organization claims she was taken advantage of for social media fame.

Tributes have been pouring in on TikTok, with many sharing their memories of her.

A spokesperson from The Archer Project said, “They exploited her just for likes.” They highlighted how Keeley was often filmed in vulnerable situations, which many people didn’t realize.

They explained that Keeley was sometimes given money to perform, which fed into her struggles with addiction. It was a cycle that ultimately put her at risk.

“She was a person, not just entertainment,” they emphasized, reminding everyone of her humanity.

Many organizations tried to help her, but the pressure from social media made things worse. They expressed their sorrow and concern for her family during this difficult time.

Social media has been filled with condolences. One user, Tom Blewitt, shared, “Heartbreaking news tonight. RIP Keeley Thornton.”

Another, Kieran Simpson, added, “I’m so sorry for her family. You rest easy now, away from all the idiots.”

People have also been sharing videos of Keeley, with messages like ‘RIP’ and ‘fly high’ overlaying her performances.

In an effort to support her family, Cherie Lowe has set up a GoFundMe page, which has already raised £450. She described Keeley as having a beautiful heart and wanted to help her family during this sad time.
