York, UK, PC Rosie Prior, Ryan Welford, A19 Crash

York: It’s such a sad story. A police officer, PC Rosie Prior, was helping out at a crash scene when she got hit by a truck. She was just trying to do the right thing.

The accident happened on the A19 near Bagby. Rosie had pulled over to assist after a Ford Focus and an Audi collided. Sadly, she and a 41-year-old man named Ryan Welford lost their lives.

Ryan was a family guy, described as a loving father and husband. It’s heartbreaking to think about the families left behind. A teenage boy from the Audi is in the hospital but is stable.

The driver of the truck, a 65-year-old from Berwick-upon-Tweed, was arrested but has been released while the investigation continues.

The road was reopened later in the day, but the impact of this tragedy will be felt for a long time. Both families are in our thoughts as they navigate this tough time.

The police are asking anyone who saw what happened or has dash cam footage to reach out. They really want to get to the bottom of this.
