Beaconsfield: On Tuesday evening, January 28, an X74 First Bus was on its way from Slough to High Wycombe. It was supposed to arrive on time but stopped at Beaconsfield Services.

The driver reported that the bus had broken down. A woman and four teenagers got off the bus before it left the area.

Phil Barron, whose daughter was on the bus, expressed his shock. He wondered why the driver didn’t wait for a replacement bus to arrive.

He shared his concerns with the Free Press. Most passengers chose to walk back to the services, and he worried about his daughter’s safety.

Phil was relieved he was nearby and could pick her up. He noted that the bus stop wasn’t well-lit, which added to his worries.

He questioned why the driver couldn’t wait a few minutes for the next bus. He felt it was important to ensure all passengers were safe.

Phil also mentioned his fear of his daughter being in danger at a busy location. He said he dreaded to think of the worst-case scenario.

A spokesperson for First Bus Berkshire explained that the bus had a breakdown due to engine issues. For safety, it was taken out of service.

The spokesperson added that the driver dropped passengers off in a well-lit area. This allowed them to wait for the next bus safely.

They also mentioned that the control team informed the next driver about the situation and where the passengers would be waiting.
