Wyre Forest: The Wyre Forest District Council is back at it with the No Barriers – Mike Oborski Awards. These awards shine a light on local businesses, groups, and individuals who have made a real difference for people with disabilities. They also honor those who think about the broader needs of the community.

Councillor Fran Oborski, who heads the awards panel, shared how special these awards are to her. They were created in memory of her husband, Mike, and after her own experience last year, they mean even more. After having her leg amputated, she now uses a wheelchair and sees firsthand how much of an impact those who go the extra mile can have on the lives of people with disabilities.

The first No Barriers Awards kicked off in 2008, inspired by a similar initiative in Gdynia, Poland. Nominations can be submitted online or picked up at The Hub on Green Street or Wyre Forest House Reception. Just a heads up, the deadline for nominations is Monday, February 10, 2025. The awards ceremony will take place on Tuesday, March 4, at Wyre Forest House.
