Wrexham: A retired BT engineer named John Wright had quite the surprise this Christmas. He won £5,000 in the Nightingale House Hospice Lottery’s Christmas Superdraw. At first, he thought it was a prank when he got the call about his win.

But instead of keeping the money, John decided to donate it back to the hospice that cared for his late wife, Sue. He felt it was a way to give back for all the support they provided during a tough time. John shared that the hospice was a lifeline for his family when they needed it most.

Sue was diagnosed with cancer and received care at Nightingale House before she passed away in 2019. John’s family, including Sue’s children and granddaughter, joined him to present the donation. They all appreciated the hospice’s services, which made a difficult time a bit easier.

John encouraged others to join the hospice lottery, saying it’s a great way to support families in need. Amanda Kinsey, the Lottery Manager, expressed gratitude for John’s generous gesture, highlighting how important the lottery is for funding their services. Every little bit helps, and playing the lottery can make a real difference.
