Inverness: So, there’s some roadwork action happening on the A9 that you should know about. BEAR Scotland is warning drivers to expect some serious delays. They’re kicking off improvements in two spots: one near Allangrange and the other south of Drumochter.

Starting this Sunday at 8 PM, they’ll be working on the northbound lane between Allangrange and the Tore roundabout. This is set to wrap up by 6 AM on February 1. To keep everyone safe, they’ll have lane closures and a night-time convoy system to help manage traffic.

When they’re working on the northbound lane, the southbound lane will also see some closures. Plus, the right turn lanes at the Arpafeelie and Glackmore Junctions will be shut down during the night. If you’re heading north from the southbound Allangrange Junction, you’ll need to find another way.

They’ll set up a diversion route to help folks get around. Residents will be guided through the closures, and there’ll be a contact number for traffic management if anyone needs assistance getting out safely.

Now, about that second round of work south of Drumochter. It’s happening in two phases, starting on February 4 and wrapping up by March 15. They’ll have temporary traffic lights and a convoy system in place during working hours to keep things moving as smoothly as possible.

So, if you’re planning to travel on the A9, make sure to give yourself some extra time and keep an eye out for those signs!
