Greater Manchester: So, guess what? Woodhead Pass is closed right now because of snow. It all kicked off on Saturday night, January 4, and the road is shut in both directions between Flouch and Hollingworth.
The closure started around 10 PM, and if you’re out and about, you’ll need to take a detour via the M60, M62, and M1. It’s a bit of a hassle, but safety first, right?
The Met Office has put out weather warnings for snow across Greater Manchester and other parts of the UK. They’ve even issued amber warnings that last through Saturday night and into Sunday morning. So, it’s serious business.
A spokesperson from National Highways said the A628 Woodhead Pass is closed due to the snow. They’re advising everyone to use the M60, M62, and M1 instead. And hey, if you’re planning to travel, make sure to give yourself extra time. Better safe than sorry!
Traffic data company Inrix also mentioned that the A628 is closed in both directions between Tintwistle and Flouch Roundabout. But don’t worry, Snake Pass is still open for now.
This isn’t the first time Woodhead Pass has been closed this year. It was also shut down for most of New Year’s Day because of flooding. Just goes to show, the weather can really throw a wrench in our plans!
