Tignes: A woman named Anne thought she was in love with Brad Pitt, but it turned out to be a scam. She lost a staggering £700,000 to a con artist using AI.

At 53, Anne was already facing issues in her marriage when she got caught up in this wild situation. The scammer charmed her with romantic messages, poetry, and even fake videos that made it seem like she was chatting with the real Brad Pitt.

It all started back in February 2023. After posting some fun ski holiday pics on Instagram, she got a message that claimed to be from Pitt’s mom. The next day, a fake account pretending to be Brad reached out, and they began chatting daily.

At first, Anne was a bit skeptical, but the scammer’s sweet talk won her over. She mentioned how rare it was to find a guy who could write such lovely things. It felt special to her.

Things escalated quickly. The scammer promised her fancy gifts but insisted she pay for customs fees upfront. After she sent the first few payments, the requests got bigger, especially when the scammer learned about her potential divorce settlement.

The situation peaked when the imposter claimed he needed money for kidney cancer treatment. He even sent her AI-generated images of himself in a hospital bed, saying his assets were frozen due to his divorce from Angelina Jolie.

In total, Anne transferred nearly £700,000, but the real Brad Pitt was never available for a chat. Her suspicions finally kicked in when she saw news about Pitt dating someone else. That’s when she realized she’d been duped and reported it to the police.

Now, Anne is getting help for the emotional toll this has taken on her. It’s a tough situation, and she’s dealing with depression after the whole ordeal.
