Roscoe: So, there’s this wild story coming out of Illinois. A woman named Martha Dunham, 36, got herself into some serious trouble. She’s been ordered to stay away from kids after she allegedly headbutted a 6-year-old girl. Can you believe that?
This all went down on December 13. Martha was arrested and hit with some hefty charges, including aggravated battery against a child. She’s out of jail now but has to follow a protective order that keeps her away from anyone under 18.
Apparently, she didn’t just headbutt the girl. She also yanked her hair, which is just awful. Martha pleaded not guilty and wants a jury trial, but it’s still a pretty messy situation.
We don’t really know how she’s connected to the little girl, but the girl’s mom was quick to file for an emergency protection order right after the incident. They had a court hearing on January 7, and the mom wanted to extend that order for two years.
When the judge asked Martha if she’d agree to that, she was like, “Can we do it until my criminal case is settled?” Not the best response, right? The judge decided to extend the order until January 28 but had to step back from the case due to a conflict of interest.
In court, the prosecutors were really pushing against Martha’s release, bringing up her past domestic battery convictions. But her lawyer argued for her release, and the judge ultimately agreed, as long as she stays away from kids.
She’s got another court date coming up on March 18, so we’ll see what happens next.
