Ilford: A woman named Harshita Brella, 24, was found dead in the trunk of a car in Ilford. Police discovered her body on Brisbane Road shortly after midnight on Thursday. They have started a murder investigation into her death.
Authorities believe Harshita was targeted by someone she knew. However, they are still keeping an open mind about the case. The investigation is being handled by the Metropolitan Police and Northamptonshire Police, but no arrests have been made yet.
Reports indicate that Harshita, who lived in Corby, had a Domestic Violence Protection Order against someone two months before her death. This order prevented the person from visiting her workplace. Despite this, no formal charges were recorded against the individual.
Northamptonshire Police have referred the case to the Independent Office for Police Conduct due to previous contact with Harshita. They received a call on Wednesday expressing concern for her well-being. Officers went to her home but did not get a response, prompting a missing person investigation.
A post-mortem examination confirmed that Harshita had been murdered. The police are working hard to find out what happened and when. They urge anyone with information to come forward, especially if they saw anything suspicious recently.
Detective Chief Inspector Johnny Campbell expressed his condolences to Harshita’s loved ones. He emphasized the need for information to help solve this tragic case. Police are increasing patrols in Corby to reassure the public while the investigation continues.
