Dayton, Ohio, Murder-Suicide, Shooting, Coroner

Dayton: A heartbreaking situation unfolded recently when a man and woman were found dead in a home. The coroner confirmed it was a murder-suicide.

Emily Stovall, just 23, suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was declared a homicide. Jacob Osterhaus, 25, was also found dead at the scene, and his death was ruled a suicide.

This all went down on November 7, when police responded to reports of gunfire on Russet Avenue. Neighbors heard the shots and described the chaos that followed. One neighbor, Debbie Owen, recalled seeing a man yelling, “You shot her! you shot her!”

The police quickly cordoned off the area to investigate. There were reports of other people being in the house at the time, but the police couldn’t confirm that.

Amidst the confusion, Owen mentioned seeing a man walking with a small child, which added to the distressing scene. Homicide detectives were called in, but the police stated they weren’t looking for any additional suspects.

Stovall’s family is now caring for her young son, who is just four years old. It’s a tragic reminder of how quickly life can change.
