Gold Coast: A woman got hurt after she fell into a hole from an explosion at a busy tourist spot. It happened on Cavill Avenue around 5 PM on Sunday.

According to Queensland Ambulance, the woman, in her 20s, fell into a manhole that blew up. Luckily, bystanders helped her out before paramedics arrived to take her to the hospital with minor injuries.

The blast created a no-go zone, and police urged everyone to steer clear of Cavill Avenue and nearby streets. They advised folks to stay indoors if they were in the area until things were sorted out.

Some online videos showed the manhole acting like a trap door during the first explosion, which is when the woman fell in. Then, there was a second explosion shortly after.

A couple dining nearby shared their experience. They said they heard a small explosion while waiting for their food, followed by a much louder one. They were evacuated and couldn’t go home for hours.

Five fire crews showed up to check things out and monitor for gas leaks. As of now, the cause of the explosion is still unknown, but the exclusion zone was lifted around 8 PM as police continued their investigation.
