Kensington: So, there was this kitchen fire in a block of flats on High Street. Fire crews rushed over around 9 PM on Wednesday. Thankfully, a woman managed to get everyone out before the firefighters arrived.
The fire was pretty small, just a part of the kitchen got damaged. It looks like it was caused by some cooking that was left unattended. You know how it goes—one minute you’re chopping veggies, and the next, you’ve got a mini inferno.
By about 9:30 PM, the fire was under control. But this incident has got the London Fire Brigade reminding everyone about the risks of leaving cooking unattended. They really want people to be careful in the kitchen.
A spokesperson from the brigade said that kitchens are the most common place for fires to start in homes. They shared some simple tips to keep safe, like not putting anything flammable near the stove and always checking that the hob is off when you’re done cooking.
They also warned against trying to put out a fire yourself. It can be super dangerous! If a fire breaks out, just leave the room, close the door, and call 999. Better safe than sorry, right?
