Gwangju: A South Korean woman, Kim Shin Hye, has been found not guilty of murdering her father after spending 25 long years in prison. Can you believe it? She was wrongfully convicted back in 2000.

The Gwangju district court finally cleared her name, saying there just wasn’t enough evidence to prove she did it. They pointed out that her confession, which led to her life sentence, couldn’t even be used against her because she took it back.

Kim had initially confessed to the crime, claiming she did it to protect her brother. But during the trial, she changed her story and denied everything. The court noted that her confession might have been coerced or made under pressure.

Back in the day, prosecutors accused her of mixing sleeping pills with whiskey to kill her father. They said she then dumped his body on the roadside. But the autopsy didn’t show any signs of a drug overdose, which raised a lot of questions.

After her release, Kim expressed her deep regrets about the whole situation. She reflected on how long it took to correct this terrible mistake and shared her sorrow for her father, who had suffered so much.
