Wisbech, David Newton, Una Crown, Cambridge, UK

Wisbech: David Newton is on trial for the murder of Una Crown. He has pleaded not guilty but will not give any evidence.

The jury returned to Cambridge Crown Court today. They learned that Newton’s defense will not present any evidence.

Una Crown, 86, was found dead in her bungalow on January 13, 2013. She had multiple stab wounds and her body was set on fire.

The prosecution finished their evidence last Tuesday. The jury was dismissed for three days of legal discussions.

Newton’s defense barrister, Henry Grunwald KC, was expected to present evidence. However, Newton refused to answer questions.

The last time Una was seen was during a shopping trip. Tomorrow, the jury will hear closing statements from both sides.

The trial continues as the court seeks justice for Una Crown.
