Wiltshire: The Wiltshire Community Foundation has been running its Surviving Winter program for over 14 years. It’s all about helping folks in Wiltshire and Swindon who are struggling with fuel poverty.

Last year alone, they managed to assist 2,855 people. That’s pretty impressive, right?

They provide fuel grants and team up with partners like Age UK Wiltshire and Citizens Advice to offer advice and support. It’s a real community effort.

With energy costs going up and some people losing their winter fuel payments, the charity warns that more folks might have to choose between heating their homes or buying food.

Fiona Oliver, one of the joint chief executives, mentioned that as we head into January, which is often the coldest month, many older and vulnerable people are scared to turn on their heating. That’s just heartbreaking.

So, they’re asking for donations again for the Surviving Winter campaign. If you want to help out, you can visit the Wiltshire Community Foundation website to donate.
