San Francisco: The 49ers had a rough outing against the Dolphins, losing 29-17. But the game wasn’t just about the score; it left them with even more injuries.
Coach Kyle Shanahan had a chat with the media and broke the news that a few offensive linemen are done for the season. Jaylon Moore and Aaron Banks are both out due to serious injuries.
Trent Williams, who’s been out for five games already with an ankle issue, will also sit out the rest of the season. With the 49ers out of playoff contention, there’s no rush to bring him back.
Shanahan mentioned, “He won’t be playing in these next two games. He hasn’t improved enough.” It’s a bummer for the team, especially with the playoffs out of reach.
Spencer Burford, who stepped in for Moore, hurt his calf during the game. Shanahan was still waiting on MRI results to see how serious it is.
On defense, Dre Greenlaw might also be out for the season after leaving the game early with calf soreness. The coach is still deciding what to do there.
They’ve got some depth at linebacker, but the offensive line is looking thin. Shanahan said they’ve brought in a couple of practice squad guys to help out.
“We activated Pleasants to the active roster on Saturday. We need to make sure we have five guys ready to go,” he added.
With an extra day to prepare for their next game against the Lions, the 49ers are hoping for some good news on their injured players.
