Sydney: Wild storms have really shaken things up in New South Wales. Trees are down everywhere, blocking roads and hitting power lines. It’s been a bit of a mess as strong winds and heavy rain sweep through the area.

On Monday night, folks in NSW called for help 57 times, mostly because trees were crashing onto power lines and roads. Emergency services had to jump into action in Double Bay after a tree fell on a car, but thankfully, no one got hurt.

It all started with a hot day in Sydney, but then a band of clouds rolled in, bringing rain and thunderstorms. The storms were driven by a low-pressure system, causing chaos on the streets as winds picked up.

Emergency crews are working hard to clear the mess, but more storms are expected. While the damage looked bad, an SES spokesperson said it wasn’t as severe as it seemed. They described the storm as having “a lot of bark and little bite.”

Rainfall totals weren’t too crazy, with Sydney seeing about 13mm. But the heavy rain is likely to stick around all week, bringing the chance of more storms and even hail.

According to meteorologists, a low-pressure trough is forming off the coast, which could lead to more severe weather. Most of NSW is bracing for more rain and storms, especially in the inland areas.

Residents in northern Western Australia also faced heavy rain, and parts of Queensland are expecting thunderstorms too. Meanwhile, other cities like Melbourne and Adelaide are enjoying sunny weather.

So, if you’re in Sydney, get ready for a cool and wet day with a high chance of showers and storms. It’s going to be a bit of a wild ride for the next few days!
