Whitchurch: The Whitchurch Silk Mill, the oldest working silk mill in the UK, is offering free entry to locals with RG, SO, and SP postcodes this January. How cool is that?
If you live in the SO postcode, you can pop in between January 14 and January 19. For RG residents, the free entry is from January 21 to January 26, and if you’re in the SP area, you can visit from January 28 to February 2.
Plus, if you’re in the RG28 postcode, you get to enjoy free entry for the whole promotion period, from January 14 to February 2. That’s a sweet deal!
This mill has been weaving silk since 1815 and is now a fantastic museum right by the River Test. It showcases the art of silk weaving with cool exhibits and live demos.
You can check out the old machinery in action and learn all about the mill’s rich history. Starting January 18, there’s a special exhibition called “Powering Through: The Conservation of the Waterwheel.” It’ll give you a peek into the mill’s waterwheel and its fascinating history.
