Whitby: A chippy in North Yorkshire just snagged a spot on the list of the best in the UK. The Magpie Cafe has been recognized by Fry Magazine, which is pretty cool.
Every year, Fry Magazine puts together a list of the top fish and chip takeaways and restaurants. This year, they revealed their picks, and The Magpie Cafe made the cut!
Unfortunately, none of the chippies from Teesside got a shout-out, but hey, at least we’ve got Whitby’s gem. The judging process was quite thorough, with mystery diners checking out everything from food quality to how clean the place was.
Only the best of the best get awards, and this year, the bar was set high. To even be considered, a place had to score 96% or more. Some even hit the perfect 100%!
It’s the 13th year for these awards, and the judges were really impressed with the quality of the entries. They received feedback like “The staff were so friendly” and “The fish was perfectly white.” Sounds like they’re doing something right!
