Sacramento: The Kings had a tough night against the Nuggets. They started slow and fell behind by 23 points. Even with a strong second half, they couldn’t pull off the win, losing 130-129.
Domantas Sabonis was a standout, scoring 28 points and grabbing 14 rebounds. De’Aaron Fox also shined with 29 points and seven assists. Malik Monk added 25 points, while DeMar DeRozan and Doug McDermott chipped in with 17 and 16 points, respectively.
It was a wild finish. The Kings made a strong push, and the crowd at Golden 1 Center was buzzing. DeRozan’s dunk with 18 seconds left had everyone on their feet. But Jamal Murray hit a clutch jumper with just 8.6 seconds left, sealing the game for Denver.
The Kings were missing some key players, including Keegan Murray and Kevin Huerter, which didn’t help their cause. McDermott stepped up in Murray’s absence, shooting well from the field and making a big impact.
In a matchup of big men, Sabonis went toe-to-toe with Nikola Jokić. While Jokić ended up with a triple-double, Sabonis didn’t back down and kept pushing the pace.
The Nuggets dominated the paint, outscoring the Kings 76-58. That was a big factor in the game, as the Kings struggled to defend inside.
