San Francisco: The 49ers have had a rough go this season, and it really hit home when they got knocked out of playoff contention before even facing the Dolphins. After their 29-17 loss, Purdy and Bosa opened up about what they’ve learned during this tough year.
Purdy mentioned how frustrating it’s been. He said they need to clean up their game and capitalize on opportunities. Last year, they were on fire, but this season feels like a rollercoaster. He knows he has to step up and get the offense back on track.
It’s been a wild ride for Purdy. After a stellar 2023, where he broke records and earned MVP votes, this year has been a different story. He’s started 40 games, but the numbers just aren’t the same. In the recent game against the Dolphins, he did okay, completing 65% of his passes, but the team as a whole is struggling.
Injuries to key players like Aiyuk and McCaffrey have really hurt their offense. They’re averaging over 30 yards less per game compared to last year. And with defensive issues piling up, it’s no wonder they’re missing out on the postseason.
Bosa shared his thoughts too. He’s learned to appreciate the good times, especially when the team is healthy and winning. He’s never experienced a season where the playoffs felt out of reach, so this has been a wake-up call for him.
Even though the 49ers are out of the playoff race, they still have pride to play for in the last two games. There are definitely lessons to take into next season, and hopefully, they can bounce back stronger.
