San Francisco: So, the buzz around Brock Purdy and his contract is heating up. Fans are really curious about how much the 49ers are going to pay him. After all, he’s seen as the future of the team.
Before the 49ers faced off against the Rams, a lot of fans chimed in on what they think Purdy deserves. Most of them believe he should be making between $20 million and $30 million a year. Others think he’s worth a bit more, with some suggesting $31 million to $40 million.
It’s interesting to see the split. A smaller group thinks he should earn even more, with some fans saying he deserves $41 million to $50 million. But only a few think he should be in the $51 million to $60 million range.
This season hasn’t been a walk in the park for Purdy. The 49ers have had their share of injuries and challenges, and their record isn’t great at 6-8. Still, Purdy’s got a solid resume, and the current market for quarterbacks is pretty lucrative.
For a little perspective, Dak Prescott is the highest-paid quarterback in the NFL, raking in an average of $60 million a year. Other big names like Jalen Hurts and Lamar Jackson are also making over $50 million annually.
Interestingly, there’s only one quarterback in the $20 million to $30 million range, and that’s Geno Smith from the Seahawks, who makes $25 million. It’s a big jump from there to the next tier.
Purdy’s rookie contract is super cheap at just $3.7 million for four years, which has helped the 49ers keep their star players. But that’s all about to change when he becomes eligible for an extension in 2025. Fans are definitely expecting the 49ers to step up and pay him what he’s worth.
