Weymouth: A woman in her 60s had her life savings stolen. She wants to stay anonymous while the police investigate the theft of £150,000.

She decided to share her story to warn others about scammers. It all started with a text from someone pretending to be Evri, a delivery service.

After clicking a link in the text, she got a call from someone pretending to be her bank. This led to scammers accessing her account and taking her savings.

She told the Echo, “I’ve been totally violated. It’s the most horrific act.” Now, she feels anxious about any messages she receives.

Her accounts are frozen, and she can’t pay her bills. She keeps thinking about how she fell for the scam.

Her son reported the theft to the police. He manages her account and was shocked by what happened.

She visited her bank and was overwhelmed. They knew about the scam but hadn’t warned her. She feels let down by them.

“If a dormant account suddenly has money moved, that should raise a red flag,” she said. “The banks have failed me.”

This experience has affected her mental and physical health. She feels sick and has needed sleeping pills.

Despite everything, she wants to help others avoid scams. “I’m not stupid, but I was duped. There are more vulnerable people out there,” she said.

She’s worried about others and wants to raise awareness. “I live in quiet Weymouth. How could this happen here?”

She praised the police for their support. They contacted her GP to check on her well-being.

“It was the kindest thing. The police reached out to help me, and I feel grateful,” she said.

Dorset Police has been contacted for more information about the incident.
