Farnworth: A local charity is in a tough spot. The food bank and other essential services are at risk because funding has dried up. It’s a real bummer for the community.

The Farnworth Baptist Church runs The Well, a community hub that’s been a lifeline for many. But now, they’re facing some serious cuts. They’ve had to start a redundancy process for eight out of their 15 staff members.

With the rising cost of living, demand for their services shot up last year. They handed out over 2,300 food parcels to families in need. It’s heartbreaking to think that these services might go away just when people need them the most.

John Bradbury, the senior pastor, shared how devastating this situation is. He emphasized that without sustainable funding, they might have to cut back on crucial support like welfare advice and job-seeking help.

Many folks can’t travel to nearby Bolton for similar services, so losing The Well would leave them in a tough spot. The charity is calling for the community to step up. They believe that if 1,000 people donate £15 a month, they can keep these vital services running.

Every little bit helps, and Mr. Bradbury is hopeful that the community will rally together. He knows that generosity can truly change lives and keep the heart of Farnworth beating strong.
