Jaffna: So, there’s this place called Jaffna Bites in Westcliff that just got a terrible hygiene rating. They scored a big fat zero out of five! Can you believe it? This happened last month after some inspectors from Southend Council checked things out.

Apparently, they found some pretty gross stuff. Like, they were using the same cutting board for raw and cooked food. Yikes! And raw food was stored right next to ready-to-eat stuff. Not cool at all.

Oh, and get this—there was a hole in the kitchen floor! The tiles had collapsed, making it a bigger mess. Not exactly what you want to see when you’re thinking about grabbing a bite.

The manager, Thanusan Jegatheeswaran, says he’s been working hard to fix things up since the inspection. He’s cleaned up the place and retrained the staff on food safety. That’s a step in the right direction, right?

The inspectors pointed out some other issues too. They found old equipment in the yard that could attract pests. They also mentioned that food wasn’t properly labeled with dates. That’s a big no-no in the food biz.

Mr. Jegatheeswaran admitted the findings were spot on but insisted they’ve made improvements. He said they’ve fixed the flooring and are doing deep cleans weekly. He’s even training the staff to make sure they know what they’re doing.

He’s feeling pretty confident about getting a reinspection from the council. They even closed the place for less than two days right after the inspection to do a deep clean. Fingers crossed they turn things around!
