Newport: So, the Welsh Government cabinet secretary, Rebecca Evans, recently visited a project in Newport and had some nice things to say about it. She checked out Eden Gate, where Business in the Community (BITC) is doing some great work.
During her visit, she got a firsthand look at the training and skills center, which is backed by City & Guilds. It’s pretty cool how BITC Cymru is teaming up with over 200 companies in Wales to help them improve their business practices.
Thanks to support from the Welsh Government, BITC has been able to reach even more businesses and small enterprises. They’ve organized more than 20 events in the last three years, bringing together over 3,000 attendees and connecting with more than 300 business leaders.
In Newport alone, BITC’s Place program has made a real difference, helping over 7,000 people and collaborating with 30 local businesses and 150 charities and schools. They’re all about improving access to jobs, skills, and health.
Rebecca Evans mentioned how vital BITC is for raising business standards across Wales. She really enjoyed her time at Eden Gate, seeing the positive impact of BITC’s work and meeting folks dedicated to fair work, diversity, and green growth.
She’s looking forward to keeping the partnership between BITC and the Welsh Government strong and following their efforts in other communities too. Tracy Rees, the Wales director at BITC, echoed this sentiment, saying their mission is all about transforming lives and helping communities thrive.
With the Welsh Government’s support, they’re shaping a responsible business journey to create a fairer and greener world together. Sounds like a win-win, right?
