Ceredigion: It’s a sad day as Rhythwyn Evans, known for his incredible charity work, has passed away at 95. He raised a whopping £50,000 for the NHS by walking laps around his home with a walking stick. What a legend!
Inspired by Captain Tom, Rhythwyn set out to raise just £500 for his local health board but ended up smashing that goal. He was surrounded by family when he passed, and his son David shared that he had a happy life until the last few months.
Everyone in the community looked up to him. He was the heart and soul of the family and always ready to lend a hand. Rhythwyn took on his walking challenge in April 2020, doing laps in sets of 10 to 15 over a long day.
Before starting, he said he wanted to give back to the area he loved. He knew the pandemic hit everyone hard, even in the countryside. His daughter-in-law, Eryl, described him as the kindest man, a true role model for his grandkids.
He was involved in local councils and farming groups, always putting the community first. Rhythwyn spent some time in hospitals after a fall last summer but returned home last week. His legacy of kindness and community spirit will surely live on.
