Philadelphia: Saquon Barkley had an incredible finish to his fantasy football season. He made history by becoming the ninth running back in NFL history to rush for over 2,000 yards. In a game against the Dallas Cowboys, he had a whopping 31 carries, especially with Jalen Hurts sidelined. He pushed through for 52 yards in the fourth quarter, hitting that 2,000-yard mark before being taken out of the game. Even without scoring a touchdown, he still ranked as fantasy’s RB4 this week.
What’s even more impressive? Barkley is just 101 rushing yards away from breaking Eric Dickerson’s long-standing record. If he keeps this up, he could easily smash that record in Week 18. It’s wild to think that only four of his 15 touchdowns came from inside the 10-yard line this season. If Hurts hadn’t taken those 11 goal-line TD runs, Barkley’s fantasy numbers would have been off the charts. As he heads into next season at 28, he’s definitely a top contender for the first pick in fantasy drafts.
The Eagles had a slow start, not running a single offensive play until 10 minutes in, while the Cowboys were already racking up yards. Kenny Pickett was doing well, throwing a TD pass and run, but he got hurt after a hit from Micah Parsons. He had to watch as QB3 Tanner McKee threw touchdowns on two of his four attempts.
DeVonta Smith had a rough start but bounced back, catching touchdowns from both Eagles quarterbacks. He almost had three touchdowns himself, which is impressive considering the Eagles only attempted 19 passes in a game they dominated.
Before getting hurt, Pickett had a standout play, but he needed a pain-killing injection for his broken ribs. He couldn’t finish the game, so McKee might be the starter next week. A.J. Brown almost made the catch of the year but was just out of bounds, though he did score later.
On defense, C.J. Gardner-Johnson made a pick-six during Dallas’ opening drive, and the Eagles forced nine turnovers against the Cowboys this season. It was a wild game, and Barkley’s performance was definitely the highlight.
