London: Alex Neil opened up about Millwall’s struggles after their 1-0 loss to Hull City. It was a tough match, and both teams had a hard time creating chances.
The game was pretty uneventful, with the only goal coming from an own goal by Jake Cooper. Millwall’s star player, Romain Esse, just transferred to Crystal Palace, leaving them a bit short on options.
In the second half, Regan Slater made a run into the box, and his cross accidentally deflected off Cooper, leaving goalkeeper Lukas Jensen with no chance. Millwall’s only real shot on target was a header from Mihailo Ivanovic early on, but it was an easy save for Hull’s keeper.
Neil mentioned that they tried to play differently against Hull, who are known for their pressing style. He felt they needed to control the game better but ended up turning the ball over too often, which led to a chaotic match.
He noted that while they had some promising attacks, Hull seemed more likely to score as the game went on. Neil made adjustments at halftime to try and regain control, but it was clear they were missing a strong target player up front.
With injuries and recent transfers, Neil admitted they are stretched thin in attack. He expressed frustration that the game was decided by a fluke moment rather than a well-executed play from the opposition.
