The neighbourhood policing team will hold events for crime prevention and cycle marking. The name change from ‘Watchet Harbour Police Station’ to ‘Watchet Harbour Police Post’ reflects its actual use.
Officers have laptops and mobile phones, making them more visible in the community. They can use the post for desk space or to talk with locals while on patrol.
This setup allows officers to stay in the community without returning to a different location. Inspector Stuart King expressed his satisfaction with the new arrangement, emphasizing the commitment to community visibility.
Interestingly, this is the only police building in a working harbour in the area. It’s also believed to be the smallest operational police post in the UK, excluding temporary structures.
