Feltham: A shocking video has surfaced showing young offenders at Feltham Young Offender Institution brandishing massive zombie knives. The footage, just nine seconds long, captures two inmates swinging these intimidating blades around in the exercise yard.
It was filmed last year but only recently shared on Snapchat, causing quite a stir. You can hear other inmates laughing and egging them on while one of them films with a smuggled phone. It’s pretty wild.
Authorities are now looking into how this happened after The Sun brought it to their attention. Both offenders are believed to have been released, and one even posted a video of himself using nitrous oxide. Talk about bad choices!
Patrick Green from the Ben Kinsella Trust expressed his outrage, saying these images highlight the serious issues of knife crime, even in places meant to be secure. He pointed out that it’s alarming to see prisons turning into hotspots for such behavior.
He also raised concerns about how these weapons got inside and why these individuals are back on the streets. A source mentioned that the size of those zombie knives is terrifying, and the lack of guards in the video is worrying.
This year has already seen tragic incidents of knife violence in London, with several young lives lost. The statistics are grim, showing a significant rise in knife-related crimes over the past decade.
Feltham YOI has been flagged for having the highest rates of violence among prisons in England and Wales. Reports indicate numerous violent incidents and weapons found, making it a dangerous environment for both inmates and staff.
The Ministry of Justice has stated they take violence seriously and are investigating the video. They promise that anyone found guilty of wrongdoing will face consequences, possibly including more time in prison.
