Belfast: Diggers and heavy machinery have been busy at the Dublin Road site, tearing down the beloved bar over the past few days.
A lot of progress has been made, and the old building is almost gone now.

This popular hangout, especially among students, is set to be replaced by over 200 student apartments.
Filthy McNasty’s and its cocktail lounge, Liquor XXX, threw a final bash on New Year’s Eve before closing for good.
Back in 2023, they got the green light for an 11-storey housing block, even with some pushback from a nearby hotel.
The developers, FMN Properties Limited, also want to build a new pub on Ventry Street.

Last year, it was estimated that the construction would cost around £7 million.
They expect to create 123 construction jobs during the build and 23 full-time positions once it’s done.
When announcing their last party, Filthy’s called it the “end of an era.”
They invited everyone to join for one last unforgettable night on New Year’s Eve.
“This isn’t just any party – it’s the final chapter in our story, a celebration of all the memories we’ve shared before we close our doors for good. Let’s make it a night to remember,” they said.

On New Year’s Eve, Liquor XXX also shared their farewell, saying: “Today is our last day on the Dublin Road.”
They thanked everyone for the amazing memories and support over the years.
Filthy McNasty’s had been a staple on the Dublin Road for over 15 years, known as one of the city’s best bars.
It’s rumored to be named after a favorite spot of Shane MacGowan in London.
The bar has seen its share of drama, including a serious incident in 2017 involving a student.
In 2021, a father and son were fined after an altercation with bar staff following a Christmas party.
Last October, the bar received a low food safety rating, needing major improvements.
While food handling was decent, they needed to clean up the facilities and the building itself.
