Warrington: A 22-year-old guy named Lewis Bailey has been charged with dangerous driving after a wild car meet at the Trafford Centre. He’s from Thompson Avenue in Culcheth and has been bailed for a court date on February 18 in Manchester.

This isn’t just a one-off thing. Since the start of 2023, Greater Manchester Police have been cracking down on these car meets. They’ve found a lot of cars breaking the rules, especially with public space protection orders.

In total, 278 car owners have faced penalties, racking up over £12,000 in fines. Chief Inspector Michael Parker made it clear that they take these illegal meets very seriously. They’re often promoted on social media and can draw huge crowds.

These events can be dangerous, not just for the drivers but for everyone around. There’s a real risk of property damage, noise complaints, and even serious accidents. Plus, they can block roads and make it tough for emergency services to get through.

Along with Lewis, several others have been charged too. Hanaan Akbar, 22, from Cheadle, faces multiple charges, including causing a public nuisance. Shabbir Ahmed, also 22, from Manchester, has been charged with six counts of perverting justice.

Muhammad Butt, 28, from Worsley, and Adam Shepherd, 29, from Clitheroe, are also in hot water for dangerous driving. They all have court dates coming up soon.
