Walton Lea Partnership praises its staff for keeping services running

Higher Walton: Walton Lea Partnership, a charity, provides a great space for young people and adults with learning disabilities to learn and work in a lovely walled garden.

Recently, they took a moment to shout out their amazing staff for keeping things running smoothly during some really cold weather last week.

Even with snow covering the garden, they managed to keep half of the site open for those who still needed their services. This was especially impressive since many places in Warrington and the surrounding areas had to close due to the heavy snowfall.

Jo McClure, the care and safeguarding manager, shared how teamwork made it possible to keep things going. They had a manager on-site early each day to check safety and figure out what could be done safely.

Despite having to close part of the site, everyone who needed access was able to come in and enjoy a fun week filled with activities.

Jo mentioned that they even had karaoke sessions, and who knows, they might have found the next big act for Glastonbury!

Throughout the week, there were plenty of activities like making fruit salad, practicing life skills, and even building snowmen. They also enjoyed some delicious cake and had fun singing and signing in Makaton.

They got creative with floristry and crafts, and for those who wanted to stay warm, they built Lego snowmen. Plus, they even made a trip to Warrington Youth Zone.

The staff worked hard to make sure paths were safe for everyone, gritting them early in the morning so members could get to the facility without any issues.

Feedback from parents and guardians was overwhelmingly positive, with many praising the staff’s heroic efforts during the snowy week.

Jo summed it up perfectly, saying that while everyone might be tired of the snow, the staff took on the challenge and absolutely nailed it!
