Cardiff: A yellow weather warning for snow and ice is in effect for Wales until 10am Tuesday. It started at 5pm Monday, so folks might wake up to some snow on the ground.
If you’re in areas where it hasn’t snowed much, watch out for ice. The freezing temps are turning surface water into slick spots. Dyfed-Powys Police mentioned that road conditions in Ceredigion were pretty rough on Monday night, so they’re advising people to only travel if it’s really necessary.
The Met Office is predicting a chilly, icy morning with some wintry showers. It’s going to stay cold and breezy, especially in the north and west, with a mix of sunshine in between. Just remember, it’s going to feel even colder with that brisk wind!
Now, let’s get to the school closures in Wales for Tuesday, January 7, as of 9:15am:
In Caerphilly, St Martins Comprehensive is closed because of the bad weather.
Pembrokeshire has Roch Community School closed due to heating issues.
Powys is seeing Carsws C.P. School shut down because of a utilities failure.
Flintshire has a couple of closures: Argoed High School is partially closed due to no heating, and St John the Baptist Church in Wales Voluntary Aided School is closed because of the weather.
In Conwy, Ysgol Ffordd Dyffryn is closed due to heating problems.
Wrexham’s Minera Church in Wales Voluntary Aided School is also closed for the same heating issue.
We’ll keep an eye on things and update this page if more closures pop up.
