Wales: Lou Reed, the former rugby star, has taken on a surprising new role. After hanging up his boots at 30, he’s now working as a bodyguard for Tyson Fury. How cool is that?

Reed, who played for the Scarlets and Cardiff, retired in 2017 due to injuries. He’s had quite the journey since then. He started in medical sales but now finds himself in the boxing world, providing security for big names.

He recently shared his experiences on the BBC’s Scrum V podcast. Reed mentioned that his new job feels a lot like rugby, which makes the transition easier. He’s part of a team that travels worldwide, working closely with Fury and even looking after ring announcer Michael Buffer.

Reed’s job involves a lot of planning and teamwork. He’s responsible for keeping things smooth during events, which he finds quite similar to the structure of a rugby week. He’s even starred in an advert as Fury’s body double, which is pretty wild!

Despite the challenges of finding a new purpose after rugby, Reed seems to be thriving. He’s enjoying his new life and doesn’t miss playing rugby at all. He feels he’s done enough in the sport and is ready for this exciting chapter.
