Carmarthenshire: The Welsh Government just announced an extra £25 million. This money will help fix about 30,000 potholes on major roads.

This funding will resurface 100 kilometers of roads in the next year. The focus will be on the roads that need repairs the most.

Since 2021, the government has spent over £81 million on road repairs. By 2025-26, they expect to spend a total of £118 million to fix more than 500 kilometers of roads.

Last month, Carmarthenshire County Councillors reported over 10,000 potholes last year. That’s nearly double the number from 2023.

Ken Skates, the Cabinet Secretary for Transport, emphasized the importance of fixing roads. He expressed excitement about the new funding for road repairs.

Skates mentioned they are already working hard to fill potholes. This new funding will help speed up the repair process.

He also plans to announce more financial support for local councils soon. This will help fix even more potholes across Wales.

On top of road repairs, Skates highlighted investments in rail and bus services. They are committed to improving connections between communities.
