London: As the January blues hit, many folks in the UK are starting to think about their travel plans for the year. It’s that time when people want to lock in dates with friends and family for some fun getaways.
Whether you’re dreaming of a sunny beach or a cozy city escape, planning ahead is key. You definitely want to snag the best deals out there.
That’s where Vrbo comes in. They’ve taken a close look at how Brits book their holidays and put together a handy guide for booking trips in 2025.
This guide is packed with tips on how to avoid the rush and save some cash while booking holiday homes for next year.
One cool thing about staying at a Vrbo is that you don’t have a host hovering over you. You get the whole place to yourself!
Melanie Fish from Vrbo says it’s important to remember that holiday homes are different from hotels. Since they only host one group at a time, there’s more competition for the best spots, especially those with awesome amenities.
She advises that when you find that perfect place—like one with a beach view, a game room, or a pool—don’t hesitate. Waiting just a week or two could mean the difference between being right by the beach or stuck further away.
So, when’s the best time to book? For Easter, aim to book by January 20, 2025, and definitely no later than March 3, 2025. For summer trips, February 17, 2025, is your target, with a final booking deadline of April 28, 2025.
For the October half-term, mark August 18, 2025, as the best time to book, and make sure to finalize your plans by September 15, 2025.
Vrbo suggests that late January is prime time for booking Easter trips, as over half of the homes should still be available. By early March, though, you might find less than 30% of homes left for Easter.
For summer beach trips, mid-February is the sweet spot. By late April, more than 70% of the best summer homes will be gone.
If you’re eyeing a beach trip abroad, you’ll want to act even faster. For popular spots like Faro in Portugal or the Balearics in Spain, booking in January is crucial to get the best selection.
And if you prefer a staycation, you’ve got a bit more leeway, but early booking is still smart. For places like Cornwall and Devon, aim to book by March 24, while Norfolk and North Yorkshire have later deadlines.
