Liverpool: So, Virgil van Dijk just dropped some news about his contract situation. He said there’s really nothing new to report right now. It’s a bit of a waiting game.
He’s one of three big names at Liverpool whose contracts are running out soon, along with Salah and Alexander-Arnold. They can now chat with clubs abroad since they’re in the last six months of their deals.
But folks in Liverpool think Van Dijk will stick around next season. They believe he can work out a new deal. He mentioned this after the recent 2-2 draw with Manchester United, saying he’s calm about it all.
“I don’t think there will be an update soon,” he told Sky Sports. He’s focused on the upcoming match against Spurs and isn’t letting the contract stuff distract him.
In the game against United, Van Dijk played well, making some crucial blocks. He was a bit bummed about not winning, especially since Arsenal slipped up the day before. But he was relieved to at least get a point.
“It could have been worse,” he said. He knows they need to improve, especially in keeping possession and managing the game better.
He also showed some frustration with Alexander-Arnold during the match. After a couple of mistakes, Van Dijk was seen giving him a hard time. It’s clear he wants everyone to step up their game.
