Two public toilets in north Pembrokeshire will remain open thanks to community support and overwhelming local demand for their services

Pembrokeshire: So, guess what? Two public toilets in north Pembrokeshire were almost shut down, but the locals really stepped up to save them.
The toilets in Moylgrove and Nevern were on the chopping block because the county council needed to cut costs. They said if the community didn’t take over, they’d close them.
But Nevern Community Council wasn’t having it. They listened to what the locals wanted and found out that hundreds of people use those toilets every year, even in winter!
Cllr. Kath Whitehead mentioned that the response from residents was huge. Everyone agreed that keeping the toilets open was a must, especially for walkers and visitors.
So, the new year kicked off with a win for the community! They officially took over the toilets on January 2, and now they’ll be cleaned by local folks instead of a big company.
In a nice little ceremony, Cllrs Hedydd Lloyd and Kath Whitehead got the keys to the Nevern toilets from a staff member of the previous contractors. It’s a great start to the year for everyone involved!
