Vale Royal Theatre Company Revives ‘Riotous’ Comedy Nunsense This June
Get ready for a hilarious ride as Vale Royal Theatre brings Nunsense to life at the Harlequin Theatre in Northwich this June
Northwich, Cheshire, UK, Nunsense, Vale Royal Theatre, Comedy
The story revolves around five nuns from an order that used to care for lepers. They find themselves in a bit of a pickle, trying to raise funds to bury 52 of their sisters who met an unfortunate end due to a mishap with the convent cook’s vichyssoise.
Mother Superior, being the clever one, decides to launch a greetings card business to gather the cash needed. And yes, the sisters are currently chilling in the convent’s deep freezer!
With catchy songs and wild dance numbers, this show promises to be a blast. Director Becky Benson describes it as a “cracking show” that’s a riot from start to finish. She believes it’s a unique take on nuns, showing their funnier, more relatable side.
Becky reminisced about their last performance of this show a decade ago, which was a hit. The cast is working hard on their harmonies, and even though they’re amateurs, they’re all about putting on a great show.
This will be the first official performance for the theatre company at their new home, the Harlequin Theatre, after years of searching for a venue. They used to perform at Winsford Civic Hall, which closed in 2012.
Thanks to a former member who’s now the chairman of the Harlequin, they’re thrilled to have a place to call home for two shows a year. They still rehearse locally at the Salvation Army in Winsford, but the actual performances will be at the Harlequin.
Mark your calendars! The show runs from Wednesday, June 25, to Friday, June 27, at 7:30 PM, with an extra matinee on Saturday, June 28, at 5 PM. Don’t miss out on the fun—grab your tickets soon!
