Canberra: So, Kevin Rudd, Australia’s ambassador to the US, has finally had a chat with Donald Trump. This is the first time since Trump got elected. Pretty interesting, right?

Now, Rudd has faced some heat from the opposition. They’ve pointed out that he wasn’t exactly a fan of Trump before he took on this ambassador role. But Prime Minister Anthony Albanese is backing him up, saying the relationship between Australia and the US is solid.

When asked about the details of their conversation, Albanese was a bit vague. He mentioned something about “a number of weeks” but didn’t go into specifics. It seems like he wants to keep the diplomatic details under wraps.

Rudd and Foreign Minister Penny Wong are set to attend Trump’s inauguration soon. Albanese believes having a former Prime Minister as ambassador shows how much Australia values its relationship with the US.

On the other hand, Opposition Leader Peter Dutton is optimistic about the AUKUS alliance with the US and the UK. He thinks it’s a great chance to strengthen ties, especially with Trump in charge.
