Stockport: So, there was this really sad incident on the M56. A man named Alexander Thomas, who was 42, sadly took his own life by stepping in front of a lorry. This happened last August, and it’s been a tough topic for everyone involved.

The inquest revealed that Alexander had been dealing with a long-term depressive disorder. It’s heartbreaking to think about what he must have been going through. The coroner, Adrian Farrow, confirmed that he died from injuries consistent with a road accident.

Now, the coroner is sounding the alarm. He’s reached out to the National Highways chief, saying that if things don’t change, more tragedies could happen. He pointed out that there’s a lack of fencing along that stretch of the motorway, making it too easy for someone to access the road.

Farrow mentioned that there’s a footpath leading right up to the crash barrier, which is pretty concerning. He noted that while there’s solid fencing on the other side of the motorway, this area is left vulnerable.

A spokesperson from National Highways said they’ll take a good look at the coroner’s comments and will respond once they’ve reviewed everything. It’s a tough situation, and hopefully, they can make some changes to prevent anything like this from happening again.
