Llangammarch Wells: The local post office is safe! The community council announced a buyer has been found. This news came on Sunday, February 2.
A public meeting was held in August 2024. The goal was to save the post office and shop. Postmistress Marion Roff planned to retire this February after 25 years.
The sale process has started and will take about six to nine months. It depends on Post Office vetting checks.
Marion and Jenny will keep working until autumn. This will help ensure a smooth transition for everyone involved.
Training for the new owners and staff will happen later this year. Until then, their identities will remain confidential.
Normal services will continue during this time. The community is encouraged to support both Marion and the new owners.
Residents are thrilled with the news. Maggie Lloyd called it the “best news ever.” Others agree it’s great for the village.
The post office hours will stay the same. It opens 8am-1pm on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday. On Mondays and Fridays, it’s open from 8am-1pm and 2-6pm. It’s closed on Sundays.
Last year, Marion announced the branch would close on February 28, with her and Jenny retiring.
