Wales: The weather’s looking a bit wild in the coming days. Forecasts show that Wales and the rest of the UK are in for some unsettled weather. After a chilly start to January, with some areas even seeing snow, it seems like we’re not out of the woods yet.

Up north, Altnaharra hit a freezing minus 18.7C recently, marking the coldest January night in 15 years. That’s pretty chilly! But don’t worry, temperatures are expected to rise a bit across Wales and the UK as we move through January.

Sunday should be mostly dry in Wales, but the rest of the week might bring some rain and breezy conditions. The Met Office says Sunday will start off cold and frosty, but we might see some sunshine later on. The high will be around 7 °C.

As we head into the evening, expect some mist and fog to roll in. The forecast suggests it could get a bit frosty in the east where it stays clear, with a low of about 2 °C.

Come Monday, things might get a bit messy. The forecast warns of rain, especially in north Wales, with some heavier showers possible in the hills. It’ll be breezy, but temperatures should stay around 8 °C.

Rainfall could be pretty heavy in places like Anglesey, with rates hitting 2-4mm/hour. By Monday night, expect rain to sweep in from the Irish Sea, particularly affecting the western parts of Wales.

Looking ahead to Tuesday through Thursday, the Met Office suggests we might see some rain, but it should mostly stay dry with some clouds. Temperatures will be near normal during the day, but watch out for patchy frost at night.

As we approach the end of January, the long-range forecast hints at more rain and wind. High pressure will keep things settled in the south, but the northwest might see some rain and windier conditions.

By late January into early February, we could be in for a mix of weather. The Met Office predicts a flow from the Atlantic, which could bring milder and windier conditions, along with some rain. But don’t forget, there’s still a chance for cold snaps with frost, ice, and even snow.
