London: UCAS has announced a second deadline for students in 2025, allowing them to apply for a sixth university course. This period, known as UCAS Extra, runs from February 26 to July 4. It’s perfect for those who didn’t get an offer from their first five choices.

If you’ve heard back from all five universities and either didn’t get an offer or turned them down, you can jump in and apply for another course. It’s a great way to keep your options open!

To use UCAS Extra, just find a course you’re interested in. You can use the UCAS search tool and filter for courses with vacancies. It’s a good idea to reach out to the university to see if they’ll consider your application.

When you’re looking at related subjects, make sure to check the entry requirements. They can vary quite a bit from one course to another, so it’s worth double-checking.

Once you’ve found a course, you can apply through your UCAS application portal. Just add the course details and hit submit. Easy peasy!

If you don’t hear back within three weeks, you can either wait a bit longer or choose to apply for another course. Universities have until July 17 to get back to you, so if it’s a course you really want, it might be worth hanging on.

If you don’t get an offer or decide to decline one, you can keep searching for other courses and add another choice through Extra. Plus, if you didn’t use all five choices in your initial application, you can simply add a new course before June 30 without going through Extra.

And if things don’t work out with Extra, don’t worry! Starting July 5, you can apply through Clearing for more options.
